You were a part of
my daily life
I thought of you
on waking up
You were my distraction
from the dreary dismal duties
of a working routine
I would think of you once more
before drifting off to sleep
Your thoughts, your humour
your anger, your sadness
no longer cross my mind
Even your name
has slipped
into the past.
About roughseasinthemed
I write about my life as an English person living in Spain and Gibraltar, on Roughseas, subjects range from politics and current developments in Gib to book reviews, cooking and getting on with life.
My views and thoughts on a variety of topics - depending on my mood of the day - can be found over on Clouds. A few pix are over on Everypic - although it is not a photoblog.
And of course my dog had his own blog, but most of you knew that anyway. Pippadogblog etc
That’s a very mellow poem.
From your hand? If it is, I’m 100% I know who it isn’t about.

Mellow. That’s a nice word. Reminds me of ‘Try to remember the kind of September..’ etc
Yes, mine. Everyone else seems to have a go at poetry, and I’m thinking it’s an interesting way of expressing thoughts that don’t sit well in prose.
The words flurry around in my head when I wake up, so it’s as easy to write them down and clear a bit of space in what passes loosely for my brain.

In the meantime I shall subject my poor readers to the odd so-called poem. Well it’s not written in sentences with full stops so it must be poetry 🙂

yes, I can totally “get” this poem. A long time ago, another time, another place, these words applied to a situation I was in. I like these words very much, they actually say exactly how “something” can be. I am trying to not make this “all about me” but it is hard not to, when your words strike such a familiar chord in me, how I used to feel at one rather desolate time in my life. All done with now, of course, and yes, even the name, so familiar to me once, has slipped into the past. This poem just brought it back………

If it resonates with you and reminds you of something then it must have halfway worked as a poem. Thanks.

I saw it, missed it and remembered all of this when I saw “Just another day”. The passing of time removes the sharpness of what once was.

Indeed it softens the edges, and we all remember differently. And we let go at different points. If we do.
