Why?

Is the UK expected to home refugees from the Calais refugee camps?

Serious question. In terms of population density the UK is somewhat bigger than France’s (286:118 per head of population per square km. Let’s say more than double? Two times 118 = 236. And the UK is on 286.)

So? Refugees in France are the responsibility of the UK? Really?

No wonder we voted for Brexit.

France, you caring country, just remind me again why you can’t rehome these refugees?

Hell, yes, just go to the UK and bludge off us.

We can’t feed our own people, our health service is struggling, and we can’t fund our pensioners.

The refugee question is a difficult one. What to do with them is something that requires to be addressed urgently and honestly

  3. Commonsense. Your last line is perfectly sane and reasonable. But since it is commonsense, it will be ignored.
This is a huge migration – not just refugees.

At the risk of being boring—the ‘refugees’ are an opportunity grabbed and (face it, very well used) by opportunists. Hell … any Conspiracy Theorist can see that.

It is a masterstroke of 4GW* strategy. An invasion by the gunless, hence irresistible because we don’t dare turn our guns on them (mainly ‘cos it’s not sporting, old chap).

*Fourth Generation Warfare … which will win. Has to. (The alternative is our being double-plus un-nice; and we won’t do that.)

    Hence we lose by default.
So you might just as well start practising that “Allah who achburble” thing, and don’t forget to gargle on the ‘ach’ bit …

    • I did have a phase of attempting to learn Arabic. Didn’t get very far. Tried to say good morning in the local Moroccan shop and he looked at me in shock. I don’t go there any more.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to be a refugee but I think ‘the West’ would be better occupied sorting out the countries involved instead of acting as the proverbial sponge. Sort of like teaching people to fish, or in my case grow veg as I don’t eat fish, rather than endlessly giving them fish.
