I write about my life as an English person living in Spain and Gibraltar, on Roughseas, subjects range from politics and current developments in Gib to book reviews, cooking and getting on with life.
My views and thoughts on a variety of topics - depending on my mood of the day - can be found over on Clouds. A few pix are over on Everypic - although it is not a photoblog.
And of course my dog had his own blog, but most of you knew that anyway. Pippadogblog etc
Shit happens! That will be on roughseas, but needs more thought. This was what came into my head with an empty bed today. I say a bed, I mean a camping thermarest…
Blog differentiation, Spain and Gib normally on roughseas. Whinges on here. Pix on every pic. Land Rovers on just landies. And I’ve forgotten one, oh yes dog stuff on dogblog. Easy.
But you are right I have serious spanish blog to write. But not for hoy.
Great piece. And wonderful song by a great group. As I was reading the lyrics it brought to mind a poem I wrote long ago. Have recently thought about transferring my paper copy writings to a digital format.
still fiddling with the last line π¦ not happy yet
but four tops dont need anything – great track I think
I have come across lots of poetry and fiction since joining wp
If you have some posts, lots of appreciative readers out here.
Thanks you V, but actually I don’t do anything. A few words float into my head, and I try and remember them or write them down before they float out again, because there isn’t much in there to keep them hanging around.
I admire the people who can write verse on anything under the sun and in different styles. All I can do is short and simple π
You’re lucky enough to have the words float in though.
I wanted to put into words the feelings I felt while looking at a recent sunset, but far from words floating in, EVERTHING in there floated out.
Love how the stars align in the university at times that involve my soul. The lyrics/poem in the tune took me to a place just this Saturday morning. I was nodding my head in agreed feelings with the music.
Excellent !!
Thanks BB. I think reaching out for someone, and the question of wondering whether they are there or not, or maybe will be, is something we all do, consciously or otherwise.
Of course this is part of life, part of love, part of human emotion. Even the one doing the slipping away is having some sense of unswered questions . How can we not? I suppose, all beng so different, with different belief systems which give us our feelings,.
Thanks so much for a great start to an awesome discussion point I like that!
It’s up to people to take what they want out of my posts on here, they can talk about the words I have written, or the music, or both. The lyrics to the song are more positive than my words. A sense of reaching out in both, but from two different perspectives.
I like people to enjoy talking about whatever they want. Makes no difference to me whether or not people comment on my blog topic or something totally different. If it is a safe blog to talk about whatever, then I have achieved something.
While I’m not easily flattered, I do appreciate people (you and others) taking the time to say they enjoy visiting. Gives a very nice buzz π
I used to be a deejay and played this many times back in the 70s.
I don’t think I ever linked the ‘Tops’ to spinning tops until quite recently though – I saw them dance on some old video and they span around and I had that epiphany moment.
‘Walk away Renee’ was another brilliant tune I span regularly π
Ah no wonder you are into the older music! You were only a teenager back then π I wonder how many people haven’t cottoned onto that? I certainly hadn’t but I can remember seeing them doing it, now you mention it.
I’ll have to check out Walk away Renee. For some reason the only thing that comes to mind is that ghastly Dexys Midnight Runners song. Come on whatever her name was.
Urgh! – my friend used to play keyboards in the band and I knew the singer as well – nasty piece of work. Kevin Roland was from round these parts, and was in punk bands before Dexys.
I never met Eileen though.
Oh good, I’m pleased to hear that. Justifies me not liking them even more.
All I could think of was Christine but I knew that wasn’t the right name, and too idle to look it up as I didn’t like it anyway. And you knew, so it didn’t matter anyway.
I’d never noticed that! I’m not actually a Motown fan, I just happen to like some of the music, probably moreso now I’m older. Just checked out Walk away and remembered I wasn’t too keen on that one. (You can tell I’m not a fan because I had to check it out!)
I used to play it as a slow number for smoochy dances.
Lots of Motown records were brilliant for discos – that’s my excuse.
Did you know that R. Dean Taylor was (probably) the only white artiste on Motown?
The poem shifted me in in time & space… As I read it I thought, this feels familiar, I’ve been here. I felt sad, wondered why, as I’m fine, my world’s fine but I guess it reminded me of a time when I couldn’t even find myself… Love the music clip. Old music makes me nostaglic. I’ll be singing “reach out” for the rest of the day π
I felt sad when the words came into my head. I’m fine too but – I wanted to write them down. And because I was reaching out – the music was just an obvious one. It’s very good. It has probably received more comments than my words π
I thought you were going to write about Rajoy and the UN! π

That will explain why I don’t like it. I don’t/didn’t like smoochy dances π
